'Households should pay a new tax on every pound of debt they owe, according to one of Britain’s leading economists.
Martin Weale, director of the National Institute for Economic and Social Research, said the winner of the election should consider the plan in an effort to wean Britain off its reliance on debt. He said that a small annual levy of 1pc on all household debt, including mortgages and credit cards, could help raise £15bn a year – more than would be raised from a 3p increase in the basic rate of income tax.
Although the suggestion will raise eyebrows, Mr Weale runs one of the country’s most respected independent institutions, so may spark speculation that it could be examined by the next government. The Conservatives and Liberal Democrats have both pledged to overhaul the tax system to remove the favourable treatment of debt, although neither has suggested a direct levy on household borrowing.'

'The priorities of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in the area of bacteriology have been “catastrophically re-ordered” by emphasizing bioweapons research over non-bioweapons research, a prominent authority states.
Giving priority to bioweapons research at NIH, started under the Bush Administration and continuing under President Obama, “diverts resources from critical public-health and scientific objectives,” says Richard Ebright, Professor of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at Rutgers University, New Brunswick, N.J. ... The scope of the government’s involvement in bioweapons research, may be gauged from its estimated expenditure of $70 billion since 9/11 and the fact that, according to Ebright, more than 400 U.S. institutions are engaged in such work.
Francis Boyle, professor of international law at the University of Illinois, Champaign, said that in constant dollars the $70 billion “is twice what they spent on the Manhattan Project to develop the A-bomb---ergo, this is a weapons program.”
Boyle, who drafted the Biological Weapons Anti-Terrorism Act of 1989 for the U.S., said President Bush “turned the NIH into a front organization for biowarfare work,” and “(President) Obama is simply continuing the Bush policies” and is “now even exporting biowarfare capabilities to Third World Countries.”
Asked about the scope of the nation’s biowarfare activities, Boyle estimated there are “about 13,000 death scientists involved…(so) Dr. (Josef) Mengele has arrived on American campuses all over and the universities’ Institutional Review Boards (to review biowarfare research programs) are a joke and a fraud, too.” (Mengele was a German SS officer and physician who, during WWII, performed diabolical experiments on prisoners at the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp in Poland.)
Boyle said, “There is so much money involved that universities simply are not going to turn down these proposals no matter how reprehensible they might read…”
At his own University of Illinois, Boyle said, previous biowarfare research and development contracts with the Pentagon clearly stated: “We have selected pigs (to gas with biowarfare agents) because they have a circulatory system and a respiratory system similar to human beings.”
Boyle said, “I am sure similar type biowarfare contracts that are clearly anti-human, anti-ethical, illegal and criminal on their face alone have been approved all over (at) American universities by now. Money talks. Ethics walks.”

This brings us to the second most notable characteristic of the 2010 British election: there is now patently no political choice on offer to voters. This “no choice democracy” is being foisted on ordinary people everywhere, from North America to Europe. It is the other side of the prescription of “economic structural adjustment” that for decades was the “tough medicine” that international capital forced poverty-stricken nations to swallow. 'Thousands of European Jews, including a number of EU parliament members, have signed a petition warning against systematic support for Israeli policies. The petition, which was slated to be delivered to the European Parliament on Sunday, is signed by more than 3,000 European Jews, including renown French philosophers Bernard-Henri Levy and Alain Finkielkraut. Daniel Cohn-Bendit, a Greens leader in the European Parliament, was also among the signatories of the petition, the Associated Press reported. Supporters of the group, dubbed Jcall, take issue with Israel's domestic and foreign policies, most notably the regime's settlement project on occupied Palestinian land in East al-Quds (Jerusalem).
"These policies are morally and politically wrong and feed the unacceptable delegitimization process that Israel currently faces abroad," reads the petition.
It adds that Israel faces a threat in the "occupation and the continuing pursuit of settlements in the West Bank and in the Arab districts of East Jerusalem."
Drawing much of their inspiration from J Street, a liberal Jewish lobbying group in the Unite States, Jcall concludes that "systematic support of Israeli government policy is dangerous and does not serve the true interests of" Israel.
Jcall plans hold a press conference at the European Parliament in Brussels on Monday.

US Soldier Ordered to Leave Children Behind

'A US soldier who tried to help injured Iraqi civilians after a US apache strike says his superior ordered him not to tend to the injured children on the scene. Ethan McCord, a US infantry soldier, was one of the six troopers who were dispatched to the scene after the apache helicopters killed a dozen people, including two Reuters staff, in Baghdad.
"When I came on the scene I saw the bodies, I could hear a child crying, so the crying was coming from the van so I immediately went up to the van and when I looked inside I saw a girl who's about three years of age, she had a belly wound, and glass in her eyes and in her hair," McCord told Press TV in an exclusive interview on Sunday. "The team leader who was standing there , told me I needed to stop worrying about these motherfucking kids," said McCord, a father of two. The July 2007 incident was captured by the US military. The classified video was acquired by WikiLeaks through military whistleblowers.
The group released the video which showed an aerial view of a group of men moving about a square in a Baghdad neighborhood before being targeted by the apache chopper.
McCord says he is struggling with mental problems dealing with the "real destruction," after he consulted military for assistance.
The psychiatrist "told me I needed to suck it up, … and to be a soldier and he told me that there would be repercussions," McCord said. "Right now we have a large number of suicides taking place in the US among military personal or recently returned vets from Iraq and Afghanistan." Last night as my wife
and I were praying, I asked (as usual) if He had anything to say. I
usually start with that, whereas in my earlier years I had always
gotten my own matters "off my chest" first, so that I could hear His
voice without personal distraction. But in recent years I have been led
to find out what is on His mind first.
I often go for weeks at a time without Him responding with a 'Yes, I
have something to say." Last night, however, He broke the recent
silence by telling us that it was time to petition the Divine Court
that the harmful intent of our Babylonian rulers would not fall upon
us, but upon their own heads.
Of course, whenever we are led to make a petition, it is always
successful, because the Holy Spirit is the One directing it. I do not
know what sparked the need for this petition, or why it would have to
be done now, but we were obedient to this word.
In some way this is connected to the fact that we are nearing the end
of the 3-1/2 year period that began March 15, 2006 and will end Sept.
15, 2009.
Recall that March 15, 2006 was the 2,520-year anniversary of the completion of the second temple (515 B.C.). What we call the "Haggai ministry" first occurred from 520 -515 B.C., as dated in the first verse of the prophet's writing (2nd year of Darius). The message of Haggai was extremely well-received and effective. "Within three weeks and a few days after his first address to the people they began work on the Temple again" (Hailey). ... (This prophecy should be read in connection with the historical books of Ezra and Nehemiah which appear much earlier in the Old Testament.) As many of the prophets had prophesied, the Babylonian nation was raised up and came sweeping down across the land of Israel. They captured Jerusalem, the king was taken captive, his eyes were put out, and he was also carried as a captive to Babylon and there, just as the prophecy of Jeremiah had foretold, the people stayed in bondage exactly 70 years. This, by the way, is one of those remarkable prophecies which have already been fulfilled, so you can see how God speaks through the prophets what no man could speak on his own.
After the 70 years were fulfilled, Daniel, who prophesied in Babylon, tells us that God began to move to bring the people back to the land. They came first under Zerubbabel, who is mentioned in the opening verse of this prophecy of Haggai. Zerubbabel, who was descended from kings, was the captain of the remnant that came back from Babylon. When they came to Jerusalem, they found the city in ruins. The walls were broken down and the temple was utterly destroyed. They began work first of all on the temple. Although they were still under the domain and rule of the Babylonians, they had permission from the king of Babylon to begin work on this temple. They started working, and they managed to lay the foundations and perhaps just one row of stones -- a much smaller temple than the original one that Solomon had built. Then the work began to lag, and after a while it ceased altogether and for 15 years nothing was done on the temple. It is at this point that Haggai the prophet rises up to speak.

INTRODUCTION TO THE BOOK OF ZECHARIAH
Background to the Book of Zechariah is incredibly important if we are
to be able to understand the significance and relevance of the
prophetic utterances to the people to whom they were originally
given. I said in my comments on the Seven Churches of
Revelation that it is quite amazing how the Holy Spirit takes verses
(such as Rev 3:20) and allows them to be used, out of context, in the
proclamation of His Truth but that does not mean that we should ignore
the original and intended meaning.
If we do such a thing we will find ourselves drifting away from the full counsel of God as revealed in the complexity of Scripture and into very restrictive interpretations that limit the vastness of God's character. May we hear what God might also say to us through the Scriptures in addition to the original meaning, but let us not forget that it is only the original and plain meaning of Scripture that defines whether these alternative interpretations have any accuracy of themselves.

Next to Obadiah, Haggai is the shortest book in the Old Testament, containing but two chapters comprised of a total of 38 verses. It is the only book of the English Bible to contain two chapters. Haggai delivered his prophecy using simple prose. The prophecy consists of four messages from God delivered to the nation after the rebuilding of the temple had ceased for about 10 years. The straightforward style of the book is enhanced by the use of questions, recurring expressions, and commands.
Historical Setting.
Haggai was the first of the prophets to minister to Israel following the return from the Babylonian captivity. The period of Israel's history into which he fits is recorded in the books of Ezra, Nehemiah, and Esther. His personal backgrout is recorded in Ezra 5 and 6.
Haggai dates his prophecy according to the year of the reigning Persian monarch "Darius the king" (Darius I, son of Darius Hystaspis, who was also known as Darius the Great, cf. 1:1). Darius began his reign in 521 B.C. During his first two years as king, Darius I defeated nine kings in 19 different battles. He became interested in law and permitted the Jews to rebuild Solomon's temple, which had been destroyed by Nebuchadnezzar in 586 B.C. Haggai began his ministry in 520 B.C. to exhort the people to complete the task of rebuilding the temple. The resumption of the work aroused further opposition, and a letter was sent to Darius which he did not receive until 519/518 B.C. Haggai's ministry was short, lasting only four months. His prophecy was sufficient motivation to get the people started again. The work that he began was carried on by Zechariah and Malachi. The prophecy takes place in Jerusalem, the site of the rebuilt temple.

The National Debt (which doesn’t really exist… well, it does, on paper, because the corporations USA, Inc. and CANADA, Inc. owe us, the shareholders – even though the media continue to lie, “Americans are in trillions of dollars of debt”. It is the corporations which are in ‘debt’ and this is because we continue to give them our debt notes/dollars and this increases the debt. See my book wherein I reveal that “working for a living” is only making the problem worse… for all of us. Paying a corporation with debt notes aka “dollars” only doubles its debt. One would think the board would not want this, yet, they want that debt because this provides them ammunition to get us to ‘pay’ more on the alleged national debt. But there can be no ‘debt’ because everything is pre-paid. The corporations couldn’t exist or operate unless we funded them in the first place with our credit via the bond via the Birth Certificate. Yet, if we “set off” public debt, we reduce the “national debt”.
Credit to them is debt to us and vice versa. Keep in mind that those at the bottom of the pyramid are trained not to know this because the top of the pyramid has been charged (by the world bank, the IMF) with extorting the labour and lives of those of us from whom they derive ALL their wealth in the form of dollars which is credit to those at the top. In other words, if we give them our value in the form of dollars, the corporation sees this as a debt – because it IS debt – and therefore has more debt to set-off, which is the way they want it because then they and their partners in crime, the feds and the banks, can call it the “national debt” which of course can’t exist, can’t be “paid”, and yet, can be set-off, however, the CEOs et al, perceive our dollars in the same way we do – dollars get us what we want. http://de-facto.org/?tag=mary-croft
